OTAGO POLYFEST
EARLY CHILDHOOD AND SCHOOLS’ MĀORI & PACIFIC ISLAND FESTIVAL

The children at Rainbow Preschool have also been preparing for their performance in the Otago Early Childhood and Schools’ Māori & Pacific Island Festival on Friday 13th September. We have had dress rehearsals for the mums and babies in our SPACE programmes, the children in our Under Two area, and other visitors to the centre.  We were also blessed with a Grant from Otago Community Trust for the purchase of our PolyFest costumes – Thank you OCT.

What a fabulous afternoon we had with our children’s dads & grandads at our ‘Who Let The Dads Out?’ (WLTDO) event. We had been practising “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” over the last couple of weeks at the Preschool.  Building the Cave was a highlight!!!!

Right from getting on the bus, it was lovely to see every one so excited about finding the Bear in the Cave. When we arrived at Ross Creek we followed the Bear Prints through the Forest, through the icky sticky mud, over the bridge, across the (small) river……….. till we finally found the Bear Cave…. Tip Toe Tip Toe……..Ahhhhh it’s a Bear…. A very friendly Bear.

After having some Bear Snacks in the forest, we climbed back onto the bus and headed back to the preschool. What a fabulous way for the dads, grandads and children to get to know each other a bit better while exploring our local forest tracks.
